Cooking with Kids in the Classroom
So, I’m just beyond excited right now. You see, I spent many years as an elementary school teacher and adored my job MORE than I adore cinnamon….which, if you’re just getting to know me, is a BIG deal!
I just got word that a fellow elementary school teacher in London, Ontario used a couple of my videos in her classroom (Ep.6: Gingerbread Hockey Players and Ep. 2: German Pancakes), to inspire her kids in their writing assignments. What an amazing idea! When I was in the classroom, I was incorporating technology as much as possible, and always looking for fun and creative ways to inspire kids. WAY TO GO TEACHERS!
What will kids learn while watching my videos?
1. Have a sense of humour. Laugh at yourself and don’t take yourself too seriously.
2. Be brave. Try new things and get it wrong!
3. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try, try, try again.
4. Be charitable.
Any other lessons you can think of? Let me know! And if you’re a teacher who has used one of my videos, I’d LOVE to hear all about it!
Signing off,
The Jock
PS: I’d avoid using Episode 1: How to Make Fudge – there’s wine involved. Enough said.
