An Update for KidSport Donors
Hi everyone…
It’s me… your friendly neighbourhood jock. This note is important, especially for donors of the recent challenge for KidSport.
Many of you know that a recent challenge was put out by a viewer who graciously donated $250 to KidSport. I had to sing, in a Red Wings Jersey, in a very public place, unless I was able to match his donation. My Toronto viewers and friends rose to the challenge and helped me raise over $300 to surpass the original donation and in total, between all of us, KidSport Ontario earned a whopping $555 in just a matter of days. My heart swelled with pride and joy.
However, recently, I have also fallen quite ill. I’m fighting off a rarer form of shingles that’s been brought upon by aweakened immune system and prolonged, intense stress. It’s a form that affects the eyes and face and is being monitored carefully by health officials. I’m off my feet for quite some time, scared and reflecting on what I could have done differently to prevent something like this from happening. It all boils down to being run down, not listening to the body and putting way too much pressure on.
To my donors who gave to this recent challenge: Marco at Off Limits Sports, Julien Masterson, Paul Washer, Jason Krause, Bryan Edwards, Gil Manlogat, Erica McMaster, Carter Thor Friends: Chris Whitby, Erica McMaster and Jarret Wright.…. I will not be able to complete the donation challenge this month as per the agreement. March 20th was the day and many people were coming on board. I want to apologize for this and want you to know that I will find a way to “sing for KidSport” just as soon as I’m well enough. I took your donations seriously and don’t intend to wimp out of my end of the bargain 😉
Thank you for supporting me and laughing with me while A Jock’s Guide grows in community and resources and continues to create great awareness for KidSport Ontario. I’m elated that A Jock’s Guide has snowballed into this wonderful entity of online videos, recipes, shared stories, funny happenings and really, a community of friends who enjoy food, learning and most importantly, laughing. A.J.G. makes my heart full. I love it that much. Even though I won’t be in front of the camera for wee bit of time (unless I do a horror show version of A Jock’s Guide maybe? lol), I will continue to post and share as best as I can. I hope you’ll continue to share your recipes and stories too.
So let this be a lesson for everyone: remember that it really is about the journey, not the destination….
Be well, cook, laugh and keep following A Jock’s Guide because I sure do love having you here.
Love,
Kate
