Rogers Daytime Television: New Year’s Visit

So the last time I was at Rogers, I made my Grandma’s famous German Pancakes but this time, we kicked off the new year with MY version of the classic Canadian pastry, BeaverTails. Thank you to the awesome hosts, Derick Fage and Lois Lee, for letting me stuff them with cinnamon and sugar goodness… and thanks to the Roger’s Television Family for helping me clean up and dispose of alllllll the leftovers 😉

CONTEST ALERT:
I’m currently on the hunt for a “name” for my pastry! I can’t refer to it as a BeaverTail because I’m not associated with that wonderful company, nor do I have its secret recipe.
I’d like my pastries to have their own identity anyways, so if you have an idea, check out the Facebook page for contest details. You could win an official Jock’s Guide apron if your idea is selected!

Love,
The Jock

Daytime Ottawa Appearance – Rogers Television

WHOA! That was absolutely the most fun 7 minutes I’ve had in a long time! Thanks to Rogers Television and the lovely Lois Lee and Joanne Jordan, hosts of this great morning show, for having me in their kitchen for A Jock’s Guide’s first live television appearance.

We made my Grandma Franz’s famous German Pancakes and yes, as usual, there was a little mayhem in the kitchen.  Lois was having so much fun that she dove right in without plugging the funnel hole first and the batter went all over the place!  It was still so delicious and she was such a great sport!

When I arrived at the studio that morning, they led me straight to my “stage kitchen” with little reminders of what was for show and what was for use.  The fridge, sink and oven were just for show and the stove-top range was “temperamental”. I liked hearing this because if you know anything about me, or my show, you’ll know that I welcome mishaps in the kitchen. How would I weasel my way out of this one if the stove-top didn’t work? Luckily it did, as you’ll notice my little celebratory “YES” and double fist pump, at the 1:10 mark of the video.

Who would have thought that little ol’ me in the kitchen would be cooking live on television and not only that, but would be invited to return again to their Daytime Show! Rogers loved having me almost as much as I loved being there. I can’t wait to go back.

Ahhh… I’m such a happy cook. Thank you so much to the Rogers Television family for welcoming a new edition.

Love,
The Jock.

PS: Thank you to Derick Fage and JF Dufault who had a special hand in making this day possible!
